A strong earthquake struck located east of Australia region Vanuatu. Tremors had strength of 7.2 on the Richter scale – reported the US geological surveys.
The epicenter was located approx. 150 km northwest of the island of Espiritu Santo, and the hypocenter at a depth of 35 km.
There may be a tsunami. Destructive wave may reach the coast 300 km away from epicentrum.- warned operating in the Pacific center alarm. Approx. 40 minutes later, center reassured that the threat has passed.
At the moment there is no information about victims or destructions.
The archipelago is located on the so-called. “Ring of Fire” around the Pacific tectonic faults, which often comes to earthquakes.
