Kindle Oasis thanks to the slim display and ergonomic handle weighs only 136 grams (4.6 ounces), and the thinnest point is only 3.4 mm. That’s an average of approx. 30% less weight is more than 20% less than in the case of any other Kindle. This is the effect of a lightweight polymer-coated metal frame.
The center of gravity Kindle Oasis is transferred to the hand reader, so that the reader is kept in balance, when you use it with this one hand. Turning pages is either by touching the screen or pressing a physical button. Oasis allows you to read any hand – built-in accelerometer detects whether you are using the right or left hand and automatically sets the appropriate pages and buttons for their tipping.
the Kindle Oasis features a new, dual battery system – when the housing is connected to the reader, integrated in the cover of the battery begins to charge it automatically. The battery housing uses optimizes the power and energy of cell architecture, which is both small and light form and is designed to provide months of life. This technology allows for the simultaneous loading of the device and the housing when connected together. In addition, a new sleep mode minimizes power consumption when the reader is disabled.
Housing for charging is made of leather and is available in black, plum and walnut. It opens like a book and is adjacent to the edge of the device, including the reader at the opening and lulling him after closing. Twelve magnets ensures adhesion of the casing to the device and also allows the removal of the casing when the user decides to read without it.
Kindle Oasis is equipped with a white paper Paperwhite display with a resolution of 300 ppi. Newly designed lighting has 60% more LEDs, which reduces the effect of diffraction, while increasing the frequency and range of display brightness. Oasis Paperwhite is the first display of the Kindle reader designed using 200-micron rear plate of the display. It has a thickness of aluminum foil, and additionally the display itself is covered with a chemically strengthened glass.
Besides the Kindle Oasis offers features available in previous generations reader, such as built-in lighting in the front, Whispersync, archive Worry-free integration with Goodreads, X-Ray – search “Bones of the book,” Word Wise, Family Library, Kindle FreeTime, Time to Read, Kindle Page Flip, Vocabulary Builder, the ability to share the recommendations of books, selected excerpts and quotations from friends on Facebook and Twitter, Smart Lookup, Custom -Built Typesetting Engine, as well as access to the Kindle Store with millions of books, newspapers and magazines.
Kindle Oasis is available for preorder worldwide for 289.99 euros (version Wi-Fi) or 349.99 euro (Wi-Fi + 3G). Members of the Polish will be able to order the device, along with free delivery from amazon.de. Shipping will begin next week.
