The newly discovered planet orbits a distant 700 light years from the central star system Kepler 78, referred to also as TYC 3147-188-1, which can be seen in the constellation Cygnus. size of the planet is only 1.2 larger than the size of Earth, and its mass is 1.7 the mass of our home planet.

Kepler 78b resembles the Earth in terms of chemical composition – the planet is composed mainly of rock and iron. Also, its average density is close to the earth – is 5.3 grams per cubic centimeter (Earth is 5.5 grams per cubic centimeter).
Unfortunately, the similarities end. Kepler 78b orbits so close to its parent star that the surface of the planet is a living hell. There temperature exceeds 2000 degrees Celsius!
not only high temperature on the surface makes Kepler78b completely uninhabitable. According to astronomers, the fate of the planet is doomed. Soon gravity of the star around which the planet revolves make will be torn apart and absorbed by it.
