Typically, smartphones are equipped with sensors, cameras supplied by Sony, but Samsung already some time ago adopted a completely different strategy in this field and in flagship products are installed in two different sensors.
The latest Galaxy Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also uses the same approach and both models have a front camera with Sony IMX240 sensor, while the rear uses Hyundai’s own design of a matrix of 16 megapixels. The same strategy was used in the case of Galaxy Note 4, where the version of the Exynos, also uses Samsung’s own sensor marked SLSI_S5K2P2.
Sensors are obviously interchangeable, so basically you should not worry about which of them are in their original, because they are doing well good pictures. Or at least most of them, because some users complain about the defect front camera, which makes the pictures appear strange colored dots.
