Apple sues Polish phone service. The lawsuit have about 600 pages – Virtual Poland

Polish cell phone service received a lawsuit from Apple. The Cupertino company demands that it return to the domain Apple operates under the service – ap.pl. According to lawyers American giant, the name is too phonetically similar to a registered trade mark.

Indeed, ap.pl may resemble the name of Apple, but that domain – founded in 2002 – is the abbreviation for the full name of the company Art Production. It is logical that if the company operates on the Polish territory, the owner registered the domain name in the UK. Apple is no argument, and the company occurred in May of this year to return the domain. When the owner refused, she received the lawsuit. Interestingly, he counts up to 600 pages!

Currently, the domain dispute is reported that according to specialists, is resolved in favor of the current subscriber. If Apple thinks that the domain is useful for marketing reasons, it should pay for it, as he did, among others, mobile operator P4 lecturing for a domain play.pl 2 million zł. – informs in a statement sent to WP.PL Zenbox, the company managing domains.

Attempts to seize Internet domains by large companies claiming to be their marks are publicized at least a few times every year, but the scale of such activities is much greater. Particularly aggressive in their actions are major corporations. Apple in Poland already several times tried unsuccessfully to take over the Internet domain (eg. The store a.pl), while Google for several years fought to obtain gmail.pl domain, as indeed eventually succeeded.
