Scientists first spotted the planet in 2011. Further studies have shown that irregularities seen in the way the movement is caused by the presence of two stars.
Veslin Kostov from the Goddard Space Flight Center in the latest issue of the magazine “Astronomical Journal” reported that Kepler-1647b orbits two stars in constellation Cygnus.
As pointed out by prof. William Welsh of San Diego State University, finding a planet orbiting two stars up is much harder than one that orbits a star.
