Windows 10 for smartphones (Technical Preview) has just been made available by Microsoft for a large part of the owners of a series of Lumia smartphones. Members of a number of models for Lumia Lumia 520 1320 1520 after the Lumia Lumia 535 can benefit from new applications and solutions posed a test version of Windows 10.
The most important new feature is the browser Project Spartan . Microsoft has announced that will revolutionize the way we use smartphones. It uses the new Edge rendering engine, added some rather unusual tools to share content with other users.
The successor of Internet Explorer is not the only new in Windows 10 for smartphones. Noteworthy are the following improvements:
Outlook and Calendar. The first combined both applications – you can switch between them without going to the home screen. It seems to be practical, because it often viewing the message we need to check something on the calendar. Outlook allows you to check the external accounts (including Gmail). Applications are also associated with Office 365.
Phone and messages. Microsoft redesigned the menu, both functions of the phone (see photo). The transition between the conversation and the news is now to be much more convenient. The current solution is not complicated, but it would be good to see something much more intuitive.
Contacts. A redesigned app becomes not only a new look but also a new feature. In Contacts, see also people from services such as Gmail or Outlook. Until now, this integration was possible only with contacts from Facebook.
Maps. The most important new feature is the integration of the prior art with Bing Maps and Here Maps (created by Nokia). The new application has to be very rich in information.
Microsoft has improved a keyboard (kropa and comma are already in the basic character set). Application Camera has run smoother and not hang up.
Windows 10 or “One Windows”
After an intense period of information about changes in the system Windows 10 computers Microsoft has decided to more smartphone users care about. It’s a shame that users other than the Lumia models so far are not covered by the Technical Preview version, but most users Lumii (of course excluding those which are currently running Windows Phone 7.8), Microsoft’s new system will get.
Is Microsoft has convinced you that it is worth to wait for Windows 10 for smartphones? Or should it change to? In my opinion, the company is still doing too little to provide the advantages of its latest mobile system. For more specifics still need to wait.
It is worth noting that Microsoft is also working on an update for Windows Phone 8. The relatively small gap between the appearance of the “Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2″ and Windows 10 Technical Preview seems a bit confusing and probably not entirely necessary. I think that Microsoft wants to reduce the number of models that will have a “spot” – do some users have been “abandoned” by Windows 8.1. Upd. 2, as was the case with Windows Phone 7.8? We have to wait for the response to this question.
