06.03. Warsaw (PAP) - Under the slogan "Abortion in defense of life", but also with the demands regarding free childcare facilities and the elimination of junk contracts and economic inequalities manifested on Sunday in Warsaw, the participants seventeenth marches - march organized on the occasion of Women's Day.

According to them, despite the current prohibition on abortion, women often opt for abortion, but the conditions under which this takes place, often threaten their health or life. They added that the most vulnerable are women living below the poverty line because they can not afford to finance treatment.

Speaking at Sunday's demonstration activist women's circles stressed that in Poland there is practically no access to abortion, as evidenced by the minimum number of abortions conducted legally. Also expressed concerns that there may be more to toughen laws that already - according to them - the de facto does not allow an abortion.

"This is a real problem, because during the election campaign also these issues were strongly placed. There is a risk that the very restrictive rules, which sprowadziłyby women to the role of the incubator, they can enter into force, because among other things there we are "- PAP said Katarzyna Piekarska (SLD).

Participants demonstrations, chanting: "Freedom, equality, abortion on demand" carried posters with slogans: 'birth as I want, "" Priests want to victims, princesses want rights, "" My body, my fortress " but also "Prekariuszki do not want to give birth," "We demand legal, free abortion, free crèches and kindergartens" or "Eliminate unemployment, junk contracts, economic inequalities."

As explained in an interview with PAP participating in Manifa Paulina Piechna-Więckiewicz (SLD), in its assessment of the issues of abortion and economic demands are closely related.

"First, the idea is to extend the current abortion law for the right to abortion for social reasons and the difficult economic situation of the mother. In addition, the Polish society, women are poorer. Just because it is very heavy competition very feminised as a nurse or salowa, are also very badly paid. And this despite the fact that they are very socially necessary "- pointed activist. The organizers of the marches emphasized, however, that very often, even in these situations, abortion is not performed, because the doctors - citing the so-called. conscience clause - refuse to perform the surgery. According to favor the march activists conscience clause is often used by doctors who do not really have moral reservations against abortion, but are intimidated by the environment, or "just want to have peace of mind."

On the route marches stood the three dozen or so pickets lifers drastic photographs and posters with the slogan: "Today, abortion, tomorrow Auschwitz" and nationalists with a banner against "Brussels occupation" and the poster "A nation that kills children there is no future.
