Archaeologists have discovered the remains of a camel in Austria from the time of the Battle of … – News 24

Archaeologists unearthed the skeleton in Lower Austria camel dating from the siege of Vienna. The remains were found in the bottom of the waste.

During the excavation prior to the construction of a shopping complex discovered the complete skeleton of a camel from the end of the seventeenth century. It has also been appearing in the documents of the era tavern Auf der Rossmuhle. It was there that the animal’s skeleton was found, which was originally identified as a cow or horse – gives KopalniaWiedzy.pl.

The researchers were able to determine that the camel was used for driving, not the transport of goods. Even managed to determine that the ancestors of the animal is female and male dromedary baktrian, which is a hybrid of a camel jednogarbnego and dwugarbnego quite common in that era.
