2013 TX68 asteroid will pass close to Earth. Nobody knows how close – Interia

According to experts from NASA, March 8 at a very short distance from the earth can fly by an asteroid in 2013 TX68. There are fears that the body can be found very close to the orbiting Earth satellites, and even that comes into collision with our planet.

Astronomers from St. Petersburg and Tomsk, have done a simulation of the destruction of asteroids using missiles with nuclear weapons. The researchers sought to test the impact of an explosion on a celestial body similar to the asteroid Apophis, which is year 2029 will approach the planet at a dangerous distance. read more

The asteroid 2013 TX68 is about 30 meters in diameter and has been spotted in the program search for potentially dangerous objects, reaching very close to Earth – so-called NEO (Near Earth Object ). The problem with the 2013 TX68, however, lies in the fact that astronomers do not have certain information about the orbits of asteroids.

You only need to recall that earlier astronomers thought that the 2013 TX68 reaches perigee on March 5. That did not happen and now changed the expected date of the close-ups on March 8. Still no way to tell whether this object will pass our planet, and if so, at what distance. This can be several million registered or even several thousand kilometers.

Experts say ,, that the chances that the asteroid 2013 TX68 collided with our planet are minimal, which also confirm that such a possibility exists. If that happens, almost certainly awaits us repeat scenario from Chelyabinsk of 2013.
