Warsaw for several years included in the action, putting out the greatest architectural lighting in the city, such as bridges or the Palace of Culture and Science.
What is it?
Participation in “Earth Hour” WWF is very simple. Just on Saturday, March 28, in the chair. 20:30 put out the light on the symbolic hour. It is important, however, to also take care of the Earth every day for example. Extinguish unnecessary light, choose public transport or a bike instead of a car, shorten the time of your morning shower, choose local and seasonal products. Economies of scale is important – it is not only how many people put out the light, but the fact that each of the participants to change their behavior then. Even if the changes may seem a seemingly small, the sum of the Earth can bring great relief.

“Earth Hour”
Each year, thousands of cities around the world are included in the shares of putting out the most recognizable buildings, lighting a symbolic gesture for the planet. Last year it was, inter alia, the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Tower Bridge in London, the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, or the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.
WWF Earth Hour, however, lies not only in extinguishing the lights. Logo is 60+ action, where the number “60″ refers to the symbolic time, and the “+” to all the activities that are carried out after this time. WWF’s Earth Hour is an inspiration to take real action to protect the surrounding nature and reverse harmful changes that caused the man.
During this year’s edition of WWF Poland encouraged not only to extinguish the lights, but also to commitment to protecting the critically endangered, Baltic harbor porpoise. Porpoise, dolphin cousin, is the only species of whale, occurring constantly in the Baltic. They were no more than 450. It is not enough to be able to survive in our sea without an active protection by man. As part of the beginning of March porpoise also visited the capital city hall. Anyone can join the action and sign an appeal for the protection of the harbor porpoise on www.godzinadlaziemi.pl. There you can find out how you can help the animals throughout the year.
This year’s “Earth Hour” WWF is covered by the honorary patronage of Hanna Gronkiewcz-Waltz, President m.st.
