Maxwell is a 10th-generation GPU architecture firm NVDIA, which is the successor to Kepler architecture. Being the engine behind the game of the new generation, solves some of the most complex issues relating to lighting and visual effects in the world of visual computing.
The new technique, Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI), for the first time in the case of graphics cards designed for gaming, allows the use of dynamic lighting the whole scene in real time. The game world becomes more real, because the realistic behavior of light more players involved in the ongoing action on the screen.
VXGI – Voxel Global Illumination
Realistic lighting is one of the biggest problems in the field of graphics rendering in real time. Simulating direct and indirect lighting, for example in the form of reflections dynamically generated scenes, it was far too demanding task for consumer graphics cards. As a result, game developers have to use tricks that reduced the realism of displayed scenes.
Architecture Maxwell overcomes these limitations, providing performance and capabilities necessary for the modeling of direct and indirect lighting sources. This is due to VXGI, a new technique prepared by NVIDIA, which allows an exact reflection of indirect lighting, including ambient light and mirror reflections.
VGXI is now part of nVidia GameWorks, the latest graphic effects library used in games, which allows you to create titles including dynamic environment characterized by rich, natural lighting and stunning realism. We are currently working on the integration of VGXI in popular game engines such as Unreal Engine 4, and making them available to developers later this year.
MFAA – Multi-Frame Sampled Anti-Aliasing
NVidia’s engineers also increased the performance of graphics cards GTX 980 and 970 thanks to a new anti-aliasing technique, called the MFAA and using new possibilities lie hidden in the architecture of Maxwell.
As part of the art MFAA collected a lot of different designs of pixel samples within a single frame and multiple frames. It then uses a new synthesis filter to obtain images of the highest quality – faster than traditional antialiasing techniques. As a result, MFAA provides players with quality similar to the technique 4xMSAA, but aggravating the system is not more than 2xMSAA technique, making the game run faster, while maintaining a high level of quality.
DSR – Dynamic Super Resolution
GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 980 can ensure the high quality of the game to players that use standard monitors with a resolution of 1080p. Thanks to technology DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution), the game can be rendered at a resolution of 4K or similar, and then scaled to the native resolution of the display by 13-degree Gaussian filter. The quality of the resulting image is incomparably higher than the image rendered directly in 1080p.
Technology DSR is activated in a simple way using an application GeForce Experience, which automatically optimizes settings for games in order to ensure the best performance, charge the latest drivers, and allows streaming of games and record gameplay. Just one click to turn on the DSR and enjoy high quality games without buying a new monitor.
VR Direct
Direct VR technology contains a number of new solutions that improve productivity, reduce delay and to ensure that the games that sets VR. These include:
• VR SLI – provides better performance when working with virtual reality devices, allowing you to assign several tasks graphics cards to display an image for each eye, providing faster graphics rendering stereoscopic.
• Asynchronous Warp – reduces by half the delay and quickly adjusts images during head movements of players, without having to render new frames.
• Car Stereo – improves compatibility of games with sets of virtual reality, such as the Oculus Rift, even if they were not originally designed to work with such devices.
Availability and price
Graphics Cards NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 and GTX 970 are available today from leading manufacturers, including ASUS companies, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Inno3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, Point of View and Zotac. Availability of cards between producers varies by region of the world. Suggested gross price is 2399 zł for model GTX 980 and 1429 zł for model GTX 970.
