Google is scored for vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows 8. This is done maliciously? – Gazeta.pl

In the summer of last year, the Internet giant has appointed a special cell called Project Zero . The aim of the employed hackers is to detect vulnerabilities in different systems before they discover cybercriminals. Only Microsoft software Google hackers found from November fifteen gaps.

Project Zero has one rule: detects a threat, inform the author of the software and wait three months. Then information about the vulnerability are published – regardless of whether the relevant patch has been released or not.

As reported by Business Insider Microsoft is not happy with this practice. Especially disclose more details about several vulnerabilities in Windows 8. The Redmond believe that Google is not playing fair. Why? Because information published on the last hole just two days before the release of the patch. Importantly Microsoft releases its updates for a specific time – in order to be able to computer administrators to plan their work.

Google could then wait two days instead cling to the deadline. Thanks to users’ computers would be more secure. But Google is no argument in this discussion – simply says that three months is enough time to patch release.

Google is looking for holes, but not at home

Online Project Zero is not find information on … Google software. There are third-party analysis of products such as Microsoft or Apple, but with gaps in their own system, Google is silent. It can therefore be concluded that, to some extent Project Zero is a marketing tool is to show Google in a better light, and competitors in the worse. We do not know whether Google will deal with patching all the vulnerabilities discovered in the 90 days of receipt of the relevant information.

So we can ask the question: who is the disclosure of vulnerabilities by Google before issuing the appropriate update. Chris Betz, head of security for the team at Microsoft says that what is good for Google is not always good for the user. Or maybe Google is right and Microsoft should run faster. What is your opinion on this?
