December 27, we will celebrate the 96th anniversary of the Wielkopolska Uprising. In a very short time Wielkopolanie liberated almost the entire region and created an army, which later played a major role in the war against the Bolsheviks. The day before the outbreak of hostilities, the second day of Christmas, the capital of Wielkopolska came Paderewski.

Christmas 1918. In Gdansk, Ignacy Paderewski appears together with the English military mission . In the capital of Wielkopolska composer has to show up in the second feast in the evening. The Right Honourable representatives of Wielkopolska! Dear compatriots and countrymen, brothers and sisters! What is currently happening in my soul, each of you will guess. After that which we have just experienced the word on the lips of dying. We live in a time when everyone must prevail over feelings. And I have to master emotion, and that I ought to say, so I say. For you to adopt the crowds here and there on the street I thank you. It’s not what you have inflicted on me refer to my person. I am a symbol of an idea, the same, which is the Polish National Committee. As a man, I feel lucky that I live now, I can be a symbol. A human is a great honor, tem more that he met me here on this momentous eternal Wielkopolska Earth. As was the case 96 years ago at Poznan railway station Poznanians again welcome Ignacy Jan Paderewski. For several years, residents of the city can participate in the staging of events from the past.

Wielkopolska Uprising broke out on 27 December 1918 in Poznan and was the largest uprising for independence in the partitions, ending victory.
