Online Skype can now automatically translate live chat. Service tested students from Mexico and the United States, communicating with each other in their native languages.
The program translates spoken words in a foreign language and the recipient with an audio version through a speech synthesizer. At the same time there is a text transcript of the conversation. Translation text messages already covers 40 languages.
The owner of Skype, Microsoft says that over time, the available languages will be much more. Microsoft adds that Skype has three hundred million users who every day, including messenger spend two billion minutes. It will depend on the users, how the program will develop and how precisely explain. It is based on the technology for “machine learning” – the more the program will translate, the more “learn” and remember for the next call.
As the first of the interpreter calls will benefit users of Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Technical Preview.
Other Internet giants also introduce various types of translations live; example would be a special program from Google, which translates subtitles seen for example by camera smartphones.
