The winter solstice is the beginning of astronomical winter
The Day the winter solstice occurs the shortest day of the year. After the winter solstice day starts doing a longer and the night shorter. Winter Solstice because of the length of the solar year and the occurrence of leap year falls on days 21-22 of December and it is not permanently appointed day.
In many ancient cultures, the winter solstice was considered to be a reason to celebrate “the rebirth of the Sun”. It was believed that it was the happiest day of the year.
