In the past school year, educational activities science Kurpie dialect and culture of Kurpie, were conducted in five centers in the municipality of incense in the dimension of two hours a week of the first class of primary school to third grade high school students. Attended by approx. 50 students, who for the first time in the history of Kurpiowszczyzna received certificates of completion dialect Kurpiowski.

– Learning the dialect Kurpiowski will continue in the coming, new school year in the same five government schools. We are considering extending the number of elective courses of one hour more per week – said the Mayor of incense Dariusz Łukaszewski, originator of the project, for which inspiration has become the achievements of Prof. George Rubacha, lover speech Kurpie.

Prof. Rubach is a linguist, fonolog, lecturer at Warsaw University and the State University of Iowa (USA), author of the spelling system Kurpie “The spelling rules Kurpiowski literary dialect” (2009.), Which was used then to create the “Dictionary of selected names and phrases Kurpian” (2013 .).

In a previous edition of the project, conducted in the school year 2014-15, the Soviet Kurps in cooperation with the local government Mazowiecki municipality of incense and the Local Government Teacher Training Center in Ostroleka organized a course on “Dialect Kurpian and the history and culture of Kurpie”. Course for Teachers, held periodically at schools in Chudku, Wachu, Dylewie and in the Kadzidlo, included, among others, reading and writing dialect, as well as classes in singing, dancing and customs Kurpie.

The new school year 2015-16 to the design of learning the dialect and culture of Kurpie Kurpie intend to join another municipality: Baranowo and Lelis. – We have such plans. We think the introduction of elective courses of the new school year in two secondary schools – said Mayor Henry Toryfter Baranowo. – Since September we want to move the project into secondary schools – also announced Director of Administration of the Department of Schools and Kindergartens in Lelisie Andrew Przeradzki. He added that initially considered is the introduction of two hours there learning the dialect Kurpiowski optional.

Kurps this ethnographic region the border of three provinces: Mazowieckie, Podlasie and Warmia-Mazury. In this area there is a Forest Green, also called the Forest Kurpiowska. The population living in this area since the sixteenth century referred to as Kurpie.

Shaped by centuries and still alive dialect Kurpian , although it has its own characteristic features of pronunciation, names and phrases, is part of the Polish language. Developed by Mirosław Grzyb, president of the Kurps and Henry Gadomski and Tadeusz Greca “Glossary of selected names and phrases Kurpian”, composed of two parts: the dictionary kurpiowsko-Polish and Polish-Kurpiowski, contains a total of more than 6 800 passwords.
