Samsung Publishing cycle for me is a big mystery. When I think that I was able to finally understand the new models marketed, the Korean company surprises the next novelty. This was the occasion rather unexpected release of the Galaxy Tab S for several months after Galaxy Tab Pro, just when the market debut of Samsung’s first tablet screen with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 – The Galaxy Tab 9.7. Now, in a moment in which we were expecting a natural successor Galaxy Tab S (16: 9), debuted high-end Galaxy Tab S2 models with screen 4: 3. However, looking at the fact that the first generation Galaxy Tab S still does not age, the introduction of distinctive products other aspect ratio makes more sense than we might initially seem.
Over the past weeks I had the opportunity to use the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7-inch version, much more interesting and better younger brother, the Galaxy Tab A 9.7. Below you’ll find out what I think about it.

Design, workmanship
The Galaxy Tab 9.7 S2 can tell a lot, but certainly not that it is ugly. You can see a clear jump by comparing the series of Table A and Table S – both in terms of quality (plastic vs. metal), as well as design (simple, uncomplicated vs. the more admirable eye). Cut long edges on the back and silver border stretching along the front of the device adds more elegant character, and the metal housing of a lot better presented. Frame around the screen to turn the thinnest does not belong. For some, it will be a disadvantage (the smaller, the better presents equipment), for others – an advantage (the bigger, the firmer grip).
It is worth mentioning incredible light weight and slim device under test. And even if I try to avoid here comparisons to the iPad Air 2, lightest and thinnest Apple tablet, simply can not be. Well, S2 Galaxy Tab weighs only 389 grams, while the iPad – 444 g, while the thickness of the Samsung model is 5.6 mm, and Apple – 6.1 mm. The difference is visible to the naked eye.
The buttons are set as standard – the switch in the top of the right edge, turn under him – buttons to adjust the volume. All, though very slightly protrude from the casing, they are well felt under the fingers, have a proper jump and are not extremely loud. On the same side there are two drawers – one card nanosim (LTE model) and the other – microSD. It is worth recalling that in the first generation were opened by undermining the flap, while here to get to them is needed igiełka.
At the bottom edge you find two speakers – one closer to the right side, the second – left (there is no stereo), 3.5 mm jack Audio (in my opinion very well that at the bottom, but experience shows that not everyone will agree with me) and a microUSB port, which – interestingly – not in the middle, as it has always been – and on the right.
The upper edge is empty, just as the left. On the back was placed slightly protruding from the housing lens camera without LED illuminate the logo and Samsung. There are also smaller and more subtle recesses which are mounted Book Cover dedicated case.
At the front, however, above the screen, we find Samsung’s logo, lens, 2.1 megapixels webcam, light sensor, while below the display – illuminated buttons System : open applications (long press runs view multiple windows, ie. multi window), the physical Home with fingerprint reader (Google Now) and back (menu). If I associate, the Galaxy Tab S2 is Samsung’s first tablet that uses longer hold back as the ability to access the menu – whether the screen is turned on at the time of the application.
Display
The Achilles’ heel of Samsung’s first tablet with a screen aspect ratio of 4: 3 was the resolution 9.7-inch screen, which amounted to 1024 x 768 pixels. In the case of S2 Galaxy Tab 9.7 the Korean company could not afford such a faux pas, and you’ll find here the highest possible resolution with the diagonal – 2048 x 1536 pixels. The matrix is made, of course, in the technology of super AMOLED. All this makes it a device under test screen, you can not say a bad word – really. Fonts are incredibly sharp and clear, saturated colors (but not saturated), and excellent viewing angles.
During the tests, unfortunately I did not have access to a colorimeter, but from experience I can say that the minimum brightness of the screen is slightly too high – at night you can use it, but still quite shining in his eyes. With maximum brightness rail is very good – no major complaints is doing even in the sun, and believe me, that driving the highway in the last days (of course as a passenger) had enough time to test it. Here, however, we must remember to wipe the screen as often as possible, because he loves to collect fingerprints. Of course, as befits a high-end equipment we have automatically adjust the brightness.
This is probably expecting a long discourse on the superiority ratio of 4: 3 on a 16: 9 (or 16:10). But the truth is that it uses products from which we can better depends entirely on your preferences. But the fact is that the screen 4: 3 holds more content when browsing the web than 16: 9, while watching the video in most cases uświadczymy black bars above and below the screen, which at 16: 9 say you can not. More about the proportion write out a lot up in the entry for the Galaxy Tab A 9.7, to which I refer here.
