Professions University Rover Challenge 44 teams have come forward and have classified the 23rd – Polish representation at the forefront of the world when it comes to construction rovers – says the student Thomas Bear.
University Rover Challenge competitions are played each year in late May and early June in the vicinity of Mars base analogue MDRS, in the desert of Utah in the United States. In extreme conditions the rovers constructed by students from dozens of universities compete in several competitions simulating the Martian missions.
The Polish team design work on the rover, called Ares involved dozens of people. – Worked as a design office, everyone had assigned the task, we used the shared repository of technical documentation. We did everything from start to finish, from an idea by designing the submission, optimization and tests – says Tomasz Bear, a member of the Students’ Space Technical University of Warsaw.
